The Liberal magazine is devoted to a renaissance in liberal politics and the liberal arts. First founded in 1821 by the Romantic poets Percy Shelley, Lord Byron and Leigh Hunt, the magazine is committed to regenerating liberalism and reinvigorating the public sphere. Alongside reportage and political and economic analysis, we publish philosophical essays, poetry, music scores, photography and short fiction from around the world.
Contributors to the first ten issues include Harold Bloom, Christopher Hitchens, Germaine Greer, Martin Rees, Matthew Parris, Ariel Dorfman, Al Alvarez, Elaine Showalter, Wole Soyinka, Clive James, Julia Kristeva, Slavoj Žižek, Shirley Williams and Simon Sebag-Montefiore.
